When you think of the word “job”, what comes to mind? CEO’s, retail workers, and possibly construction workers are the titles many think of. However, many times, the job of a daycare worker can be looked upon as easy or not a hard job. Laura Rementer is a director of Step by Step, located in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania.
Ever since Rementer could remember, she always wanted to work with children. Having kids of her own, Rementer never wanted anyone else but herself to watch over her kids. Starting at 6 am every weekday, Rementer opens the facility to wait for parents to drop off their young ones. Ages range from 6 months to 5-6 years old, who are enrolled in Step by Step. Being the director, Rementer is in charge of keeping track of all the children, answering phones from 5 other Step by Step facilities, and also steps in when staff is low.
For being in the industry for so long, Rementer regrets nothing. As a young kid, she was always looked upon as a responsible babysitter, being in charge of not only her younger siblings but neighbor’s children. Watch Rementer’s story of where she is now and what makes her smile in the profession she is in now.
